First All-Female Team at SIOY Finals Invents Dating Safety App
The BYU Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering continually encourages females to participate in their programs and events. As one of the largest competitions in the college, SIOY holds many opportunities for competitors, but few females have made it to the finals. This year, that changed, and SIOY had its first female team compete at finals.
BYU students design affordable water filtration device to help provide clean water in Pakistan
A group of BYU engineering students decided to use their expertise to help with water quality challenges in Pakistan. The team of capstone students designed a prototype for an affordable, easy-to-use water filtration device that could easily be sourced and built in the Asian country of 220 million.

Capstone Brings Clarity to CharityVision Project
According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, vision loss can severely affect one's quality of life. For many, not having affordable eye care can hamper their ability to participate in everyday essential activities: cooking an evening meal, working a job, and reading signs and messages. Capstone recently assisted the nonprofit organization CharityVision in improving international eye care.
