BYU engineering students frequently participate in the university’s annual Student Innovator of the Year (SIOY) competition. Many participants have kickstarted successful businesses such as Owlet, MyoStorm, and PhoneSoap, and several teams have gone on to participate in the hit ABC TV show Shark Tank.
Brigham Young University’s Capstone course has gained a reputation as one of the finest student mentoring experiences of its type in the country.
Capstone is a required, two-semester course for senior-level students, the heart of which is designing, testing, and prototyping a real-world industry engineering challenge for a company sponsor.

BYU Engineering Together (BE Together) is the title given to the College’s organized effort to foster an environment of belonging for all our students. We highlight outstanding students, host events fostering collaboration, provide support and resources, and connect students to research mentorships. We also help students utilize the resources of the University’s Office of Belonging.
