Capstone Brings Clarity to CharityVision Project

According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, vision loss can severely affect one's quality of life. For many, not having affordable eye care can hamper their ability to participate in everyday essential activities: cooking an evening meal, working a job, and reading signs and messages. Capstone recently assisted the nonprofit organization CharityVision in improving international eye care.

BYU Capstone team develops portable assisted person lift for the National Ability Center

A team of six BYU Mechanical Engineering students partnered with the National Ability Center (NAC) through the BYU Engineering Capstone program to design a portable lift to assist in moving people of varying abilities from a wheelchair to adapted sporting equipment. The NAC is a nonprofit located in Park City, UT that aims to empower individuals of different abilities to participate in a variety of recreational activities such as skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing and more.

BYU grad uses engineering to keep Air Force pilots safe

Have you ever used a flight simulator? BYU alum Jessica Collyer tests and improves them every day for her job at Hill Air Force Base as a software test engineer. Collyer received her mechanical engineering degree from BYU in 2016 and now works as a software test engineer for the 309th Software Maintenance group for the United States Air Force.
