Chad Josephson, a PhD student studying electrical engineering, wrote a paper with BYU professor Michael Rice that won first place at the October 2017 International Telemetering Conference (ITC) in Las Vegas, NV.
Josephson’s paper, titled “Optimizing Coded 16-APSK for Aeronautical Mobile Telemetry” impressed the judges out of a crowded field of candidates. Rice and Josephson’s work in aeronautical telemetry focuses on receiving data from airborne systems.
Josephson was able to attend the Las Vegas conference thanks to his paper winning second place at the student paper contest this September.
Professor Rice has previously mentored several undergraduate students as they compete in the ITC student paper contest.
