BYU's Mixed Reality Lab teaches virtual and augmented reality

BYU Mixed Reality Lab

Many experts believe that mixed reality systems will eventually be used in nearly every facet of our lives. BYU's Mixed Reality Lab allows students to explore both augmented reality and virtual reality systems and design mixed reality experiences.

In virtual reality systems, the user can't see the real world around them, whereas augmented reality systems allow the user to see the world around them with added 3D digital content.

This new technology has exciting real-world applications. One developing application is the ability to use robots with mixed reality; this technology could potentially allow doctors to operate on someone without even being in the same room or country.
