John Warren is Vice President of Strategic Business Solutions for IPS Learning and Director of the IPS Center of Excellence for Strategy Execution. As such, John provides world class consulting and strategic facilitation to enable organizations to effectively execute their strategies in challenging times. In addition, John serves on the Faculty for the Stanford Center for Professional Development where he teaches groups from around the world on execution of strategy. His goal is to “Do the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, in the right place, for the right person or organization, for the right reason, with the right feeling, every time.” With 30 years of experience in program and project management, John has had clients including Google, L3 Communications, Marvell Semiconductor, Santa Clara County, Barclays, Kaiser Permanente, Xilinx, and Box.net.
In recent consulting engagements, John designed and facilitated strategic planning and strategy mapping at the Library of Congress and designed a complex IT integration workshop for Barclays in London. He has helped Hewlett-Packard (HP) establish and support a global, multifunctional program management office and has coached senior managers at Capital One on a complex and mission-critical program.
John earned his Bachelor’s degree in biology and pre-medical sciences from Davidson College in North Carolina. He went on to receive his Master of Forestry degree in land-use planning from North Carolina State University, and his MBA in strategic planning from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. John and his wife Paula have been married for 44 years, starting as high school sweethearts in a biology class. They have two sons and three grand-daughters; all of whom live in Boise, Idaho.
