John B. Prows is vice president of corporate engineering and operational excellence for Huntsman Corporation headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas. In this role John has global responsibility for Engineering, Manufacturing Excellence, Six Sigma & Energy Optimization for all Huntsman manufacturing sites. In 2011 Huntsman sold $11 billion in Specialty Chemicals and Performance Products produced at 80 manufacturing sites located in North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Prows earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at Brigham Young University. He has lived and worked in North America, Europe and Asia. Prior to his current role, Prows was vice president of manufacturing excellence for Huntsman’s Performance Products Division (PPD), VP Manufacturing PPD, VP Petrochemicals - Europe, VP Sales - Europe, Global Operations Director - Performance Chemicals, and Plant Manager of several Huntsman manufacturing sites. Prior to joining Huntsman in 1994, Prows worked for DuPont for 13 years in a variety of manufacturing management, sales and marketing development, and plant engineering roles.
He is best known for his “Rattlesnake Safety” seminars and is often called the “Why Drill Guy”. He has a passion for developing teams, systems and cultures that drive safety improvements and deliver operational excellence.
John’s wife Melitta is from Germany. Prows has three sons and six grandchildren, all of which now live in Houston, Texas. His oldest son, Spencer, graduated from BYU with an Electrical Engineering B.S and M.S., and an MBA.
