Matt Smith currently works for Becton, Dickinson & Co. (BD), a $7.7 billion Fortune 500 medical technology company, as vice president of manufacturing. He has strategic and operational leadership responsibility for medical device manufacturing facilities in Spain, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States.
After graduating from BYU, Mr. Smith began his career working for BD in a variety of engineering and operations roles. He has also worked in operations leadership roles for Danaher Corporation, a diversified industrial goods manufacturer, and CareFusion Corporation, a medical technology company. During his career, Mr. Smith has lived in several U.S. locations and has worked in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Sweden, England, Czech Republic, and Israel.
Mr. Smith was raised in Mesa, Arizona and Logan, Utah and received his Bachelor of Science degree from BYU in Manufacturing Engineering in 1996. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2001.
While living in New Jersey, Mr. Smith met and fell in love with Christina Sookhoo, a BYU graduate, and was married in Toronto, Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are the proud parents of two children.
Mr. Smith enjoys snow and water skiing, golf, and the outdoors. He is fluent in Spanish.
