College Lecture: Sam Billin

Thursday, March 13
11:00 AM - 11:50 AM
JSB Auditorium

Sam Billin graduated in 1991 from Brigham Young University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Early in his career, he developed an expertise in the mining industry that led him to form his own engineering and construction firm in 2012. Billin is the founder and CEO of Linkan Engineering, a multinational engineering firm specializing in the design, construction, and operation of complex water treatment systems for mining and industrial clients around the world.

He has 35 years of experience consulting in environmental investigation, remediation, civil engineering, and water resources. He specializes in subsurface flow and contaminant transport. Billin couples that specialization with hydrogeology and civil engineering for design of water supply, water treatment systems, and wastewater treatment facilities. His broad range of mine water treatment plant design affords any project unique insights into both conventional treatment plant design and innovative, cost-saving alternatives. His influence can be found in essentially every mine water process technology common in the industry as well as numerous innovative approaches, all across North America, South America, Asia, and Africa.

He married his wife Julie while they both attended BYU. Billin is the father of six incredible children and grandfather to seven adorable grandchildren.
