BYU’s new Engineering Building was awarded the Higher Education/Research Building Project of the Year by the Associated General Contractors of Utah in January. The Association recognized the Engineering Building for its quality and integration of experiential learning spaces during its annual convention held Jan. 24-26 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“The building will provide expanded study and research space for thousands of BYU Engineering students. The new facility spans 5 stories and features 200,000 square feet of classroom, learning, project laboratory and office space,” the Association cited during the award presentation.
Members of Jacobsen Span Joint Venture, BYU College of Engineering, VCBO Architecture, and many others contributed to the new facility. Construction of the building was made possible through generous donations made by numerous donors to the College of Engineering.
The Engineering Building’s state-of-the-art experiential learning spaces help meet the tremendous growth BYU’s College of Engineering has experienced in the last four decades and offers students boundless learning opportunities.
