It’s a great time to be a part of the BYU College of Engineering.

In 2018, BYU College of Engineering faculty and students participated in ground-breaking research, received awards for innovation and made the world a better place by serving others.

Below are just a few highlights from the BYU College of Engineering in 2018:

1. Served others
BYU faculty and students made waves serving youth in the Utah Underwater Robotics Program, engineered a new design for LDS Charities’ global wheelchair program and built a more efficient Village Drill that provides clean drinking water to impoverished communities.

2. Received awards
BYU’s Construction Management program was ranked #1 best value in nation and Technology and Engineering Studies students won 1st place at the Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association competition. BYU’s super-mileage vehicle placed first at the international Shell competition and the year wrapped up with student Josh Wilkerson being awarded the nation’s top chemical engineering student award and BYU Rocketry setting a new Guinness World Record.

3. Learned from the best
The first BYU Alumni Tech Summit was held in Austin, Texas with representatives from 75 companies and college alumni. Professor Greg Nordin delivered a Ted Talk on 3D printing of microfluidic devices and mechanical engineering graduate Jared Blanchard delivered the April BYU graduation commencement address.
