MARCH STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Meet Henry Smith, mechanical engineering major from Bountiful, Utah. After his mission in Mexico, he centered his schooling and career on Jesus Christ. His love for innovation and robotics grows as he has been a research assistant, completed exciting group projects, soaked up the spirit of creation in the Engineering Building basement, and volunteered with the Mars Rover team. Henry’s chosen methods of relaxation are playing guitar, reading, and watching a TV show. Read Henry’s story here.

BYU 150 BEACON OF LIGHT: BACPAC
For the past 150 years, BYU has been amplifying truth and knowledge by nurturing the divine light in our students who then share the light of Christ with the world. As part of the sesquicentennial celebration, BYU Engineering is among the campus units sharing "beacons of light," demonstrating how we radiate light within our fields, expertise, and relationships. In each of our newsletters this year, we're sharing one of our BYU Engineering beacons of light with you.

This month: BacPac

Student skill mixed with faculty support led to the development of a wearable back sensor that can diagnose body movements that cause discomfort, hopefully ensuring a more comfortable future for those who suffer from chronic back pain. This project is a feat of teamwork with reverence and respect for the human body, God’s creation, and joy in life.

Check out the rest of our beacons of light in this playlist.
